5-AMINO-1MQ
5-Amino-1MQ: A small-molecule enzyme inhibitor
5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small molecule, not a peptide. It is studied as an inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that adds a methyl group to nicotinamide. NNMT is highly expressed in fat tissue and liver, and its activity draws on cellular pools of both methyl donors and NAD+ precursors.
Why NNMT draws attention
Because NNMT consumes nicotinamide, researchers have asked whether blocking it might shift cellular NAD+ levels and energy metabolism. 5-Amino-1MQ has been investigated in cultured adipocytes and in diet-induced rodent models, with attention to fat-cell size, lipid storage and metabolic markers. It has also appeared in studies of muscle stem-cell function in aged animals. The literature is still small, and most of it is preclinical. NNMT activity also links to methylation chemistry through its use of S-adenosylmethionine, so some groups study 5-Amino-1MQ in that broader context. Its small size and charged structure are also of interest for membrane-permeability work.
Connection to other catalog items
Labs studying the NAD+ pathway sometimes pair NNMT inhibition with direct NAD+ work; Resolve lists NAD+ separately.
Vial and capsules compared
This page shows 5-Amino-1MQ in two formats:
- Vial: lyophilized compound with sizes in the option selector. Best when you plan to prepare solutions at a specific concentration.
- Capsules: a fixed amount in milligrams per capsule, with the count per container on the label. Convenient for work built around set per-unit amounts.
The compound is the same in both; only the presentation changes.
Matching to the certificate
Every vial and capsule container is marked with a lot. Use that code to locate the certificate of analysis in COA / Lab Reports, and check that the format on the report matches yours. Certificates are being added as they are issued; support can confirm any lot in the meantime.
