PT-141

About PT-141

PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a cyclic heptapeptide in the melanocortin family. It was developed from Melanotan 2 and is closely related in structure, but it shows a different receptor profile in research, with notable activity at the melanocortin-4 (MC4R) and melanocortin-3 (MC3R) receptors. Its ring structure, formed by a lactam bridge, helps it resist breakdown. Its sequence lacks the C-terminal amide found on Melanotan 2.

Research background

Melanocortin receptors in the brain influence a wide range of behaviors and physiological processes. PT-141 has been investigated in rodent models of sexual behavior and in receptor-binding studies, where it serves as a tool for exploring central MC4R signaling. Comparisons with Melanotan 2 are common, since the two share a scaffold but differ in their pigmentation-related activity. It has also been used to study how melanocortin signaling interacts with dopamine pathways in the hypothalamus, an area where the receptor map is still being refined.

The two products above

PT-141 vial

Freeze-dried peptide in a sealed glass vial. The label lists content per vial, and the listing shows what strength is offered. Reconstitution is done in the lab with a diluent of your choosing.

PT-141 liquid spray

Supplied as a liquid. The label states the total PT-141 in the bottle and the bottle volume. This format suits protocols that call for a ready solution rather than powder.

Choosing between them comes down to whether your work benefits more from flexible concentration or from skipping reconstitution.

COA matching

Your vial or spray bottle carries a lot number. Search for that lot in COA / Lab Reports to view its certificate. New certificates are being posted continually; if you do not see yours, contact support with the product and lot and we will follow up directly.

PT-141 is supplied for laboratory research only and is not for personal use.
