Description

PT-141, known by its nonproprietary name bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic seven-amino-acid peptide that activates melanocortin receptors, with particular activity at MC4R in the brain. Resolve BioLabs supplies PT-141 as a 10 mg lyophilized research vial with labeled purity above 99%.

What is PT-141?

PT-141 was developed by Palatin Technologies from Melanotan II. The two share the same cyclic lactam core; PT-141 ends in a free carboxylic acid where MT-II ends in an amide. That small change shifted the compound’s research profile away from skin pigmentation and toward central melanocortin signalling. An injectable bremelanotide product was approved by the FDA in 2019 for one specific indication; this vial is a research reagent, not that product.

Research background

Research with PT-141 examines melanocortin-4 receptor pathways in the hypothalamus that influence motivation and arousal-related behaviour, the separation of central effects from the pigmentation effects of MC1R, and cardiovascular responses to melanocortin activation, including the transient blood-pressure changes reported in clinical studies.

Format, storage and handling

Keep the unopened vial sealed and protected from light and moisture. Follow the temperature instructions on the product label. After preparing a solution, follow your laboratory’s validated storage protocol.

Testing and documentation

Available reports describe the samples tested. Match the compound, format, strength and lot identifier with your supplied label; a supplier report does not by itself verify current stock. See the report library.

PT-141 FAQ

Is PT-141 the same as bremelanotide?

Yes. Bremelanotide is the nonproprietary name for PT-141.

What is the difference between the vial and the spray?

The vial is 10 mg of lyophilized powder for reconstitution; the spray is 30 mg pre-dissolved in 30 mL. The peptide is the same.

How does PT-141 differ from Melanotan II?

Same cyclic core, but PT-141 ends in a free acid instead of an amide, and it is studied mainly for central rather than pigmentation effects.
