SEMAX
Semax: Origin and structure
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide developed in Russia. Its first four amino acids, Met-Glu-His-Phe, correspond to positions 4 to 7 of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). To that fragment, its designers added a Pro-Gly-Pro tail, a short sequence that slows enzymatic breakdown. The result keeps a piece of ACTH studied for its neural activity while leaving out the region that drives adrenal hormone release.
Research focus
Most published Semax work is neurological. Studies in rodent models and neural cell cultures have looked at brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, gene-expression changes after experimental ischemia, and behavior in learning and attention tasks. A large share of the literature is from Russian institutions, which is worth bearing in mind when searching for sources and comparing methods.
Vial or liquid spray?
The grid offers Semax in two formats, each suited to a different style of lab work.
- Semax vial: lyophilized peptide. Content per vial is printed on the label, and you prepare the solution yourself at whatever concentration your protocol needs.
- Semax liquid spray: a pre-made liquid labeled by total Semax per bottle and bottle volume. Dividing one by the other gives concentration per millilitre.
The vial is usually the better match when concentration is a variable you want to control. The spray removes a preparation step when a fixed, ready solution is acceptable.
Related compound
Selank, a peptide built with the same Pro-Gly-Pro stabilizing tail, is also in the Resolve catalog in both formats.
Lot verification
Whether you hold a vial or a bottle, its lot number points to exactly one certificate of analysis, available through COA / Lab Reports once uploaded. We are uploading certificates as they arrive. Check that the format on the report matches your container, since Semax comes in two.
Semax is for laboratory research use only.
