Thymosin Alpha-1 (TA1)

An immune-system peptide from the thymus

Thymosin alpha-1 (TA1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide originally isolated from thymosin fraction 5, a mixture extracted from calf thymus tissue. The thymus is where T cells mature, and TA1 was one of the first defined molecules from that gland to be characterized. Its N-terminus is acetylated, a small chemical cap that is part of the native structure.

The research peptide is produced synthetically, which gives a consistent sequence without relying on tissue extraction.

Research directions

Much of the TA1 literature looks at immune signaling. Studies in cell culture and animal models have examined T-cell maturation, dendritic-cell activity, cytokine profiles and toll-like receptor pathways. It has also been included in experimental models of infection and immune response. As with any immunology reagent, outcomes depend heavily on the model and timing, so careful record keeping is essential. Researchers also compare TA1 with other thymic factors to learn which effects belong to this single peptide and which come from the broader mixture it was first purified from.

The TA1 listing

The grid above holds a single product: the Thymosin Alpha-1 vial. The freeze-dried TA1 is sealed under a stopper, and the listing’s option selector shows the strengths currently offered. Choosing between them is mostly a matter of how much material a study series needs; the peptide itself is the same.

Before the first experiment

Pair your vial with its documentation. The lot number on the label should correspond to one specific report in our COA / Lab Reports library. We are publishing that library progressively, and our team can confirm a lot by email in the meantime if you include the order number.
