Description

Thymosin Alpha-1 — abbreviated TA1 or Tα1, with the drug name thymalfasin — is a 28-amino-acid, N-terminally acetylated peptide first isolated from the thymus gland. It is one of the most studied immunomodulatory peptides. Resolve BioLabs supplies TA1 in 5 mg and 10 mg lyophilized vials.

What is Thymosin Alpha-1?

TA1 was isolated in the 1970s by Allan Goldstein and colleagues from “thymosin fraction 5”, a mixture of thymus-derived peptides. The synthetic version, thymalfasin, is approved in a number of countries outside the US but has not been approved by the FDA. Despite the similar name, it is structurally unrelated to thymosin beta-4, the parent of TB-500.

Research background

TA1 is studied for its effects on T-cell maturation and function, dendritic-cell activation through Toll-like receptors (TLR2 and TLR9), and cytokine balance. Clinical research outside the US has examined it in chronic hepatitis B and C, as a vaccine-response enhancer, and as an adjunct in oncology and sepsis studies.

Format, storage and handling

Keep the unopened vial sealed and protected from light and moisture. Follow the temperature instructions on the product label. After preparing a solution, follow your laboratory’s validated storage protocol.

Testing and documentation

Available reports describe the samples tested. Match the compound, format, strength and lot identifier with your supplied label; a supplier report does not by itself verify current stock. See the report library.

Thymosin Alpha-1 FAQ

What is the difference between TA1 and TB-500?

TA1 is thymosin alpha-1, a 28-amino-acid immune peptide. TB-500 is based on thymosin beta-4, a different, unrelated protein involved in actin regulation.

Is thymalfasin the same as Thymosin Alpha-1?

Yes. Thymalfasin is the international nonproprietary name for synthetic Thymosin Alpha-1.

Is TA1 FDA approved?

No. It is approved in some other countries, but this material is sold for laboratory research only.
